The Countryside Academy is an interactive classroom-based learning event showcasing the importance of our land, lakes, rivers and seas as a sustainable source of nutritious farmed and wild food. Everyone, every day, needs a farmer. Our job is to explain why.
We want the students to get their hands dirty from the comfort of the classroom. There will be a digital presentation and visual aids but our goal is to spark conversation and debate. There are plenty of myths that need busting.
The Countryside Academy exists to give youngsters confidence in the people that manage our countryside and explain how the food on their plate gets there. We’ll explore food miles, seasonal availability, pest control and the cost of food and food production.
